Frequently Asked Questions

  • It’s my belief as a therapist that one of the most important factors of the therapeutic journey is the relationship you build with your therapist. This is why “the right fit” is so important! But it’s hard to know right away so I encourage potential clients to “shop around” for therapists and ask questions (including me).

If this website resonates with you, and you’re interested in meeting for a free 20 minute consult to get to know each other, get in contact with me!

  • Both!

In-person sessions are limited so be sure to ask about availability. In-person sessions are located at 4022 Manchaca Rd., Austin, TX 78704.

  • This depends on the individual / relationship, but I typically recommend weekly or every other week to start in order to get acquainted, establish a relationship, and set therapeutic goals.

  • If you have out-of-network benefits on your insurance, you might be able to use those benefits to get reimbursed for the services you pay privately for at Belonging Counseling. Click here to learn more.

  • There are many factors that go into our specific rates including type of service (individual vs. group vs. couples therapy), full licensure (vs. provisionally licensed), years of experience, trainings, average industry/area rates and more.

We work hard to maintain continuing education and trainings on a yearly basis, maintain client case notes, individualize treatment per client, provide platforms that make process smoother (such as appointment reminders from Simple Practice), and coordinate with your other care providers to offer our clients a well-rounded care team.

We want to ensure we are compensated sustainably for our hard work and to maintain well-being and work-life balance.

    • I acknowledge the systems that create harm and potential trauma in my clients and myself and how they impact our health and wellbeing.

    • I advocate politically and socially for change in my professional and personal life— from voting to protesting to challenging conversations (and more) for the rights of black, indigenous, LGBTQIA+ kids and adults, people with disabilities, and other oppressed peoples.

    • I create reduced rates to provide access to mental health care to clients in financial need, especially BIPOC & LGBTQIA+ folx.

    • I do not shy away from difficult conversations when I need to take accountability and recognize any privileges I may hold.

    • I practice decolonizing therapy in multiple ways but one is encouraging my clients to have conversations with me surrounding our identities and establishing practices respectful of any cultural practices important to them.

    • I donate financially (personally and professionally) to causes and organizations that align with our mission and personal values of social justice, inclusivity, and equity.

And more but I’ll keep it to this!
